Juan Atkins, born September 12, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American record producer and DJ regarded as one of the originators of techno music, sometimes called the "godfather of techno." He formed the group Cybotron with Rick Davis in the early 1980s and later released influential solo work as Model 500, including the track "No UFOs."
